Laxey and Ístækni have signed a contract for the delivery of processing equipment for Laxey’s land-based salmon slaughterhouse. The solution ensures top-tier handling of raw materials throughout the entire process, guaranteeing the highest quality for the final product.

The agreement includes the supply and installation of all processing equipment, covering everything from slaughter to the sorting line. The machinery package consists of a bleeding/cooling tank, manual gutting line, and an automatic cleaning system for equipment sanitation.

Kristmann Kristmannsson, Head of Processing and Procurement at Laxey, stated:
“At Laxey, we believe in supporting and strengthening Icelandic technology companies in the field of fish processing solutions. We knew that Ístækni has extensive experience and specialized knowledge in this area. They have developed solutions that align perfectly with our production needs, ensuring optimal handling and cooling of raw materials to maximize product quality.”

This collaboration strengthens the Icelandic salmon industry and highlights the importance of companies in the sector supporting each other and promoting local production. The project is also a great example of job creation in rural areas—Istækni operates in Ísafjörður, while Laxey runs a land-based aquaculture facility in Vestmannaeyjar, where the slaughterhouse is currently being developed.
