We are thrilled to announce that our grow-out facilities in Viðlagafjara are now connected to the national power grid. Progress with our transformer station hit a high point today when our CTO Hallgrímur Steinsson had the pleasure to start up the station which is designed for high redundancy for safe long-term operations.
Connected to the electric grid, we are now ready for low carbon footprint production and will have minimal environmental impact on high volume food production. LAXEY has already signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for renewable hydro-electric energy with Landsvirkjun.
Electricity is indispensable for land-based salmon companies, powering essential operations that sustain fish health and optimize production. We are therefore prepared with backup generators, ensuring uninterrupted operations. The backup generators have also arrived and are ready to kick in if needed.
With six months until our first batch arrives at our grow-out facilities, getting our transformer station operational was a significant step in our plan. Construction on the site is on schedule, and we cannot wait for our first batch in six months.
